Sometimes, visitors to a new city want a little bit more attention than even a luxury hotel can provide. The same thing happens when visiting a city like Vancouver. Hotels can be luxurious and functional, but even they lack that personal touch that someone might be used to, and are willing to search for and pay for a different type of experience.
There are a number of nice bed and breakfast hotels in Vancouver. The thing about a bed and breakfast is that you get the feeling of being in more of a home setting, even though you know you’re not at home. Of course, you do have to deal with some strange rules sometimes, such as being in before midnight, but that’s the price one pays for being at home.
For instance, there’s Crystal’s View Vancouver Bed and Breakfast as a great example. Its location is closer to the mountains than many of the hotels in the city of Vancouver, and offers great views of both the North Shore Mountains and the city itself. It’s also close to Grouse Mountain, which means close to skiing if that’s something you like. It’s located in a quiet neighborhood, which, like most bed and breakfast hotels, means it’s away from a lot of hustle and bustle, and offers a full breakfast each morning, afternoon tea with biscotti biscuits, and a nice dinner at the end of the day.
Or, if you still want to stay downtown, yet also removed from the fast pace of it all, you can select a place like the Manor Guest House, which is just blocks away from downtown Vancouver, within walking distance to attractions such as GM Place, Granville Island, Queen Elizabeth Park, and a short driving distance to Chinatown, Stanley Park, and Gastown. It offers rooms that might remind you of your bedroom at home, with natural wood décor. Though it’s larger than most bed and breakfast hotels, with 9 rooms, including a penthouse, even the penthouse is designed to look more like someone’s house than a hotel room.
If you’re looking for a more comfortable experience, like being home while being away, a bed and breakfast just might be up your alley.
