Canada Place

Canada Place is one of the most unique landmarks in the city of Vancouver, British Columbia. That’s because it not only consists of one of the most luxurious hotels in the city, but because it’s only a few steps from where cruise come in and out of the city via the port of Vancouver.

The site was originally an old cargo pier that was rebuilt for Expo ’86, a gala World’s Fair that was held in Vancouver that year. City officials decided to turn the pier into an attractive and unique structure that would garner some international attention during the festivities. Compared to the Sydney Opera House on the outside, it’s not as large, but it does resemble it, as both look like tall sails in the sky from a distance.

The multi-use commercial facility is Western Canada’s largest convention facility and home to offices, shops, and a variety of attractions and special events. It also has the Pan Pacific Hotel, one of the most spectacular hotel experiences in Vancouver, especially the 1,650 square feet Pacific and Royal suites. One of its most popular features is the Promenade into History, where guests move along a walkway on a self-guided picture and story-laden exploration of Vancouver’s past, while enjoying views of the harbor. Another of its most popular attractions is the IMAX Theatre, which shows both regular and 3D movies all day long. It also contains the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Of course, there are many hotels near Canada Place, including the Pan Pacific, but if your budget needs are less hearty, or you have other things you’d also like to see in the city, other nearby hotels include: Terminal City Club Tower Hotel; Days Inn Downtown; Le Soleil Hotel And Suites; Marriott Vancouver Pinnacle Downtown; Renaissance Vancouver Hotel Harbourside; Delta Vancouver Suites Hotel; Metropolitan Hotel Vancouver; St Regis Hotel; Hyatt Regency Vancouver; Dominion Hotel; Palisades Luxury Suites; and The Sutton Place Hotel Vancouver.
